How to enjoy the process of Self-Hypnosis.

Hypnosis is simply the process of focusing and accessing the power of your subconscious mind to update information that may not be helpful or is no longer useful. You can do this yourself by learning how to do Self-Hypnosis.

The easiest way to do this is by relaxing and slowing down your brain waves to enter a light trace state so your subconscious mind is more accessible and agreeable to suggestions.

Being in a light trance involves slowing the brain waves down from Beta to Alpha.
Entering Theta is a deep trance. Below that and you are asleep.
Note: If you have questions or need help with this technique, please call or text me (Suzanne)

    Instructions for Self-Hypnosis
Preparation:

1, State to yourself what your GOALS are (purpose of the session, what do you hope to accomplish )

2. Say to yourself..." I am going into Self-Hypnosis for the purpose of___________________________________________.

During this session my subconscious mind will make any needed updates or changes so that _________________

    occurs naturally and  easily".

3. Plan to come out of Self-Hypnosis by saying " When I want to come out of Self-Hypnosis, I will count from 1 to 5 and

wake up feeling relaxed, refreshed, fully alert and knowing what I need to know to resolve this issue."

Note:You cannot get "stuck"in hypnosis. You will just wake up when your brain waves move back up to beta (awake state).

The Session:

Note: You may want to record these instructions on your phone, IPod, MP3 etc. so you can listen to them as needed.

Do not practice Self-Hypnosis while driving a vehicle!

Take a deep breath- in through your nose and out through your mouth. This is the "Magic Breath" and relaxes the body naturally.

Take a second breath and roll your eyes upward ( like you are looking at your eyebrows) as you breathe in.

As you exhale, drop your eyes and close them, saying to yourself "sleep".

Continue to breathe deeply and feel a wave of relaxation flow over your body from the top of your head to your toes. Imagine this wave of relaxation taking away all of your tension and stress as you become more and more relaxed with each breath you take. While in this trance state, your Subconscious mind will work on the issue that you have decided you want to resolve and perhaps will consider other issues that need your attention at this time.

When you are ready, you will  come out of trance easily and naturally feeling relaxed, refreshed, fully alert and knowing what you need to  do to resolve the issue at hand and knowing that you can be CALM, CONFIDENT and IN CONTROL!

To begin:
        To continue:
To awaken (come out of Self-Hypnosis)

"Chilling Out" with the "Magic Breath"

The "Magic Breath" is simply a deep breath taken in through the nose followed by a long exhalation out through the mouth (abdominal breathing). This type of breath automatically helps you get into relaxation mode, especially if you repeat it three times. I call this the "Magic Breath" because it is almost like magic how quickly and easily it can help you get control of yourself and the situation at hand.

                                                   An important suggestion:
If you are experiencing a sudden increase in anxiety or nervousness for no apparent reason, you might consider asking your doctor to evaluate your medications... especially if they are new or the dosage has just been increased. This recently happened to one of our clients and it is important to know that some people just react to medications more strongly than others. Always read the side effects information the pharmacist gives you.
It is o.k. to ask questions of your healthcare providers!

 A Helpful Article About ANXIETY

                                          The "4-1-1" on Anxiety.

Anxious Charlie Brown.jpg

Let's begin by defining some terms:

ANXIETY, is a feeling of worry, nervousness or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome. Anxiety is a normal, universal human emotion and comes about because we can anticipate the future. Anxiety may have a specific cause or be more generalized and can be a matter of degree. It is an appropriate and desirable response to real danger, but can also cause a response that is out of proportion to the actual threat and seriously disrupt a person's life when the person feels a loss of self-control. self- esteem or feels powerless. Sometimes anxiety can become a habit!

FEAR, on the other hand, is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, loss or is a threat to the physical self (or self-esteem). Fear is the feeling of being scared, alarmed or frightened. Fear is an important survival mechanism and is common to many species of animals. Fear activates the Sympathetic Nervous System which sends out adrenaline  to get the person ready to "fight or flee"... the heart beats faster, breathing increases, perspiration increases, muscles get ready to react, the eyes dilate and mental focus increases.

Anxiety and fear can cause many physical, mental and emotional reactions and in children is the most common mental or emotional issue requiring treatment.

No one likes to feel anxious, especially children. The good news is that learning Self-Hypnosis can be a very effective tool to help  people  learn new ways to regain a sense of control and to take charge of their bodies and lives when anxiety threatens to overwhelm them. I have also found that learning to do Tapping (EFT technique) is extremely helpful and I often teach it to both children and adults.

If you would like to learn more about using Self-Hypnosis and Tapping, please text me or call me at 713-562-2864 for more information.

So WHY are we all so anxious these days?

Perhaps it has to do with how fast change occurs and how our society is no longer anchored in familiar places and with familiar people. Any kind of changes requires adaptation and sometimes this challenges our coping mechanisms too much. We are constantly bombarded by stimuli and many people (especially Highly Sensitive People and Children) find they don't have the resources to cope. Bottom line... it's all about PERCEPTION and EXPECTATION...how we see things and what we expect to have happen. ***

So... here is a very easy and useful HINT to reduce anxiety...turn off the NEWS and Social Media! Spend some time just being quiet, listening to music or working on a hobby. Make a habit of doing things that make you happy!!!

Paul Harvey ( very famous radio personality from 1952 to 2008) once said :

"In times like these, it helps to remember there have always been times like these."
